Bar & terrace · 2nd floor

Engaging space 201

One floor up, the old town gathers.

A red neon 201, a long table, a terrace over the rooftops of Stara Varoš. Coffee in the morning sun, wine after dark — and, most weeks, a film, a set of records or a conversation with it.

Day to night

The same room, four times a day.

Engaging space 201 sits on the second floor of the hotel, above reception and one flight below the guest rooms. It opens early for coffee, keeps the plants watered through the afternoon, and by evening the lights come down and the neon does the rest.

It is not only for guests. Neighbours, students and people from the old town come up the stairs too — which is exactly the point. Whatever is on, there is always a table free and someone behind the bar.

Everything served upstairs also comes down to the hall on level −1 when there's an event there.

08–12hMorning

Espresso, quiet tables, the terrace in the sun.

12–19hAfternoon

Coffee and work, talks and readings.

19–24hEvening

Wine, records, screenings, the neon on.

What happens here

A bar that doubles as a small venue.

Engaging space 201 runs its own programme through the year — sometimes a film, sometimes a set of records, sometimes an exhibition that started two floors below.

Screenings

Films and video work projected on the back wall, chairs pulled into rows.

Book launches

Literary evenings and book promotions, with the author reading at the long table.

Talks & panels

Afternoon conversations, campaign nights and interviews.

Exhibitions

Work hung through the rooms — Port of Trust reached this floor too.

The terrace

Above the rooftops

Warm nights, low light, old tiles below.

The terrace runs along the front of the building, looking out over the tiled roofs of Stara Varoš towards the hills. In summer it is the best table in the house — strung lights, a slow breeze off the Morača, and Sahat Kula just out of sight around the corner.

Open to guests and to the street, from the first coffee until the last glass.

Come up for a coffee.

Second floor, Kralja Nikole 10. No reservation needed — but if you're planning something, write to us and we'll hold the room.
